Press Release
Interactive Internet Site Used to Improve
Communication of Adults
with Head Injury and Aphasia
WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI - January 2, 2006 - Parrot
Software has launched a web site featuring 70 different software
programs for the remediation of speech, cognitive, language,
attention, and memory deficits seen in individuals who have suffered
aphasia from stroke or head injury. The treatment path for
individuals with head injury and stroke is usually a long one
requiring many hours of rehabilitation. Cost prohibits individuals
from seeing specialists for more than 2-3 times a week and medical
insurers including Medicare have significantly limited
reimbursements for long-term care. The Parrot Software internet site
is a low-cost extended-care option. Customers subscribe to this
on-line service for $24.95 per month with the first week free as a
trial.
The programs available on this web site mirror activities of
speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and
neuropsychologists. Programs were designed for the non-computer user
and free technical support is available via a toll free number and
soon through Net-meeting. There are lessons of many difficulty
levels and programs report performance at the completion of each
lesson.
Parrot Software has been developing treatment software for people
with communication problems since 1981. These programs have been
purchased by almost every medical care facility in the U.S. and in
many English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Danish speaking
countries. Parrot Software provides this internet option as an
alternative to purchasing software.
Parrot Software has strived to provide top quality products for
patients with head-injury and stroke for almost 20 years. For
additional information, complete descriptions of the products they
offer are at their web site (http:/www.parrotsoftware.com). You can
request a free CD-ROM to install the Internet Subscription Service
by calling 1-800-PARROT-1 (1-800-727-7681).
